Why Rhythm & Rise Live?

Austin calls itself the "Live Music Capital of the World," but R&B and Hip-Hop artists face systematic exclusion:

  • ❌ SXSW's big stages rarely feature R&B and Hip-Hop headliners
  • ❌ Major venues book these genres 75% less than other music
  • ❌ Black middle-class families lack entertainment reflecting their culture
  • ❌ Artists work for exposure while other genres get paid fairly

"The talent exists—it just lacks visibility. We're changing that."

Rhythm & Rise Live isn't asking Austin's establishment for permission. We're building our own stage, celebrating our culture, and paying artists what they're worth.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the application deadline?

Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis. Early application is encouraged as slots are limited and will be filled on a first-come, qualified basis.

Can I apply as a group or solo artist?

Both solo artists and groups are welcome to apply. Your 20-minute set can include multiple performers, but you'll receive one performance slot.

Do I need to be from Austin?

No. While we prioritize Austin-based artists, we welcome applications from R&B and Hip-Hop artists across Texas and beyond. This is about talent and cultural celebration, not geography.

What if I've never performed live before?

We welcome emerging artists! If you have the talent and commitment, we'll provide the platform. Our team has 10+ years of experience helping new artists showcase their work professionally.

Will recordings be available after the event?

Yes! All performances will be professionally recorded and archived. You'll receive a copy of your performance, and recordings will be available for streaming indefinitely.

Can I sell merchandise at the event?

Yes! Artists will have the opportunity to sell merchandise and connect directly with fans. Details about vendor space will be provided upon acceptance.
